Vote for Curd
Debbie and I have been residents of Bartlesville for over 14 years and have chosen to make this our home in retirement. We are optimistic about Bartlesville’s future and passionate about helping us compete. I have worked closely with Jim Curd on a number of different initiatives, and am confident he will bring an open approach and needed perspective to all aspects of city government — from meeting long-term infrastructure needs such as water and sewage, to implementing long overdue quality of life priorities, to further development of our unique downtown.
Jim understands the importance of downtown and its significance in economic development. As is typical of his hands on approach, he joined the Main Street Bartlesville board to help promote building a successful downtown. He is a good listener, does his homework and then validates with others before implementing.
Bartlesville is competing against other communities for businesses, workers and residents. We need the whole community to be successful, and one area that is consistently highlighted as a differentiating feature is our downtown. We have a rich history and are blessed with great old buildings. Downtown is the heart and soul of this city, and it’s been proven in towns all across this country that prosperous communities invest in their downtowns. Many people use downtown as a barometer for the health of the entire community. We have made significant progress over the past six years; however, we are at a tipping point now and need to take downtown to the next level.
Jim has demonstrated he understands that and will help prioritize and implement the recommendations made in many of the studies conducted over the past decade. We know what to do and just need the leadership to help us play to our strengths.
Voting for Jim Curd for Ward 3 will help make Bartlesville a better place to live for the long term!

Time for a change!
Jim Curd is a man of integrity and wisdom, and I am so pleased that he is running for our City Council in Ward 3. His opponent, Mr. Gorman, has been in office for 10 years.
No one person is responsible for the city’s financial controls, long term water issues or any other city issue. Instead these issues are addressed by the people who make up our city administration and are overseen by our five-member council.
Jim is a successful businessman (Dink’s Bar-B-Que and Sterlings Grille) and has contributed his wisdom to numerous boards, both nonprofit and governmental, over his many years in Bartlesville.
Please consider voting for Jim Curd on Nov. 8. I believe he will make a very positive contribution to the City Council and our community as a whole.
The boundaries for Ward 3 have changed. It still includes most of the downtown residences, but also includes Circle Mounty, Country Club Terrace, Glynwood, Hillcrest Heights and Kenilworth.

Time for fresh perspective
I have had the pleasure of working with Jim Curd on the steering committee for the Angelou Economics Strategic Plan that I chaired in both 2006 and 2012.
These plans set forth various strategies meant to attract locally employed individuals to also live and play in the Bartlesville area. Additionally, I served with Jim on the Bartlesville Development Corporation, now named the Bartlesville Development Authority, where we worked together for two years developing and implementing many economic development initiatives that I believe have greatly improved our community.
I support Jim Curd for City Council because, after working closely with him in these two endeavors, I believe he has the vision, tenacity, transparency and fresh perspective necessary to help take Bartlesville to the next level strategically. He is ethical, an excellent listener and a tireless servant in every endeavor he undertakes. He will provide the best opportunity for the community to make progress in critical areas of our strategic plans that have sat unaddressed for too long. I believe current leadership has had ample time to move these plans forward — now it’s time for a fresh perspective and new leadership. Jim Curd will not only provide this, but also has the character and openness necessary to lead in this public arena. For a brighter future, please stand with me in support of Jim Curd for Ward 3 City Council.

Curd is an effective leader
I have known Jim Curd for over 25 years and I have come to appreciate his concern and passion for our community. As charter member of the Bartlesville Sports Commission Board and the current president, I have had the honor of working with Jim on sports tournaments and projects that involve athletic fields, parks and facilities in Bartlesville.
Jim understands the value of having good athletic facilities for all sports and properly maintaining our core city assets like downtown Bartlesville, our parks and Pathfinder. His position to utilize our long range plans and implement the needed recommendations to improve our downtown, parks, pathfinder and Price Fields, proves very beneficial to the BSC when we look to host sporting events in the community.
Jim has worked effectively with the Bartlesville Sports Commission, as I believe he will at all government levels, to improve these facilities in order that we might be able to bring more events to our city similar to the Great American Conference Basketball Championships and the Sandy Koufax World Series. The BSC has a proven record of a return on investment for the events where we have good facilities. It’s also important to finally show improvement in these youth athletic venues for the benefit of the people that live here. We continue to hear of stories where families who have gone to work in Bartlesville that chose to live “down south” because the facilities for the families are so much better.
I support Jim because I know he understands the true value of all our core city assets. As a successful business man for over 30 years he understands budgets and the value of spending limited resources where you will get maximum benefit. I trust Jim to continue our city’s quality spending controls but to also use our strategic plans to help maximize new revenue options. Jim is a man of high character and integrity with a solid financial background and Bartlesville needs his leadership on our City Council.

I believe Jim Curd should be the next Ward 3 councilman in Bartlesville. I know Jim and consider him a friend. We have been business partners for 25 years. I trust Jim and know him to be an honorable man.
My experience with him is his incredible energy and amazing work ethic. He is not a desk sitter. He is a get up and get it done kind of guy.
Jim has a desire to see Bartlesville at its best and is willing to put in the time and effort to do some bold and exciting things for Bartlesville. I believe Jim is the right man for the job at this crucial time. If you’re in Ward 3, please consider Jim for the job of your new City Councilman

Curd is a strong community leader
Jim Curd is a successful self-made businessman and a strong community volunteer.
So, what does that mean?
Jim is familiar with planning, communicating and developing positive, open and honest relationships with customers, employees and fellow civic volunteers.
He has owned and operated Dink's Pit Bar-B-Que for 28 years and Sterling's Grills for 24 years. This business success, his ability to retain long term staff, and his reputation for service, consistency and honesty carries forward to Jim's interest and concern for Ward Three and for the City.
Jim was appointed to the City Council to serve on the Bartlesville Development Corporation Board to advise in the search of industries to locate in Bartlesville to provide primary jobs, and encourage retail stores (restaurants, grocery and clothing stores) to invest in our community.
He has followed closely and has an understanding of Bartlesville's future water and sewage needs and has the know-how to use all resources to plan and address these issues. Problem solving is part of his life and business skills.
Jim understands the need to listen, to analyze and to provide forward thinking leadership. With his strong history and personal integrity, I am confident that he will represent the voter's interests and will be an excellent councilman.
Voting for mom will make Bartlesville a better place to live.
